National seminar on “Changing Landscape of Indian Retail Sector: Present and the FutureVision”,

Patiala, November 14The chief guest at the valedictory function, Mr. RajinderBhandari, Deputy Chairman, Punjab Planning Commission said that Indiahas retained its position as the most attractive emerging market in theretail sector across the world. Growing consumerism would be a key drive for organised retail in India as a result of which the retail giants of the world are striving hard to gain entry into the Indian retailmarket. In his presidential remarks, Dr. Jaspal Singh, Vice Chancellor,Punjabi University, encouraged students and faculty not only to beresearchers but also to be innovators by working on the existingknowledge and thinking on how to improve the quality of life of peoplearound us.  He stressed on the importance of harbouringtrue and honest value system necessary even for the long term survivalof the businesses.

Prof Prithpal Singh from IIT, Delhi said that it was high time that for the success of retail sector we should analyse the challengesand problems ahead to create truly vibrant retail market. There is agreat need to focus on the issues such as pricing, quality of theproducts, logistic management, customer services and satisfaction etc.The organized retail industry is facing lot of opposition from traders,politicians and the government should formulate a separate policy forthe industry. Noted management expert, Dr A. S. Chawla said that theretail sector was one of the fastest growing industries in India. Today, retailers were not only selling products or services; rather they wereselling hopes and aspirations. Currently, only five to six per cent ofthe business in retail sector was organised while the rest of it wasunorganised, leaving a huge potential for the organised retailers to tap the market and serve the Indian consumers.

Earlier,Mr. Anshul Pal, Head, Retail, Surya Healthcare Ltd., said that thenumber of consumers in the organised retail sector was increasing day by day, especially among the middle class.  While theretailing sector has been in vogue since ages in our country, it is only in the recent past that it has witnessed forceful changes. Mr. KumarRajagopalan, CEO of Retail Association of India, talked about the Indian consumer perception and impact of technology on retail business. Hesaid that the retail sector in India was witnessing a huge revampingexercise as traditional markets make way for new formats such asdepartmental stores, hypermarkets, supermarkets and specialty stores.

National level theatre festivalbigins

Patiala,Nov 14- Punjabi University, Patiala, will play the host to thefirst-ever on its campus from November15 to 19 in the kala bhawan of the University. The Vice-Chancellor, DrJaspal Singh will inaugurate the festival, being jointly organised byPunjabi University’s Department of Theatre and Television and North Zone Cultural Centre at 6.30 p.m. tomorrow. Giving this information, DrSunita Dhir, HoD of TTV and Mr D.S. Saroya, Director of the NZCC saidthat the festival is sponsored by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs andis being held to mark the silver jubilee occasion of establishment ofthe NZCC.

           The festival will begin tomorrow with noted film actor RakeshBedi enacting in Vijay Tendulkar’s play, “Massage”, directed by HarbansSingh. This will be followed by the play “Aur Ek Soch”, written anddirected by noted theatrist, Aziz Qureshi on November 16. KewalDhaliwal’s play, based on short stories, “Gaddi Charhan Di Kahal BarhiAe” will be staged on November 17. The special attraction of thefestival will be Spanish playwright Lorka’s “House of Bernard Alba”adapted into Punjabi as “Na Jaain Baruhon Paar”. The play to be statedon November 18 has been adapted and directed by Dr Sunita Dhir and DrNavnendra Behl and is based on the contemporary evil of honour killings. The festival will conclude with “Rashtri Bhrashtachar Adhiveshan”,written and directed by Kuldeep Sharma.

Indianretailing today was at  unusual crossroads as withopportunities getting galore to start a new retail business, theretailers were facing unprecedented challenges in the wake ofinternecine competition both both at the regional and global levels.

VC focuses on better Indo-Chinese diplomaticrelations

Patiala, Nov 12- Punjabi University’sDepartment of Distance Education organised special lectures by Dr S.S.Sohal, Professor of History at GNDU, Amritsar, and Dr ADN Bajpai fromRani Durgawati University, Jabalpur on “Chinese Revolution of 1949” and“Indianisation of Economics”, respectively in the Senate Hall of theUniversity. Dr Sohal lucidly elaborated the phases and characteristicsof Chinese revolution from 1919 to 1949. Vice-Chancellor, Dr JaspalSingh in his presidential address highlighted the glorious traditionsand revolutions shared both by India and china. While throwing light onthe swinging trends of Indo-Chinese relations, he strongly recommendedthe case for bringing about realistic improvements in the diplomaticrelations between the two countries. Dr Bajpai stressed on infusingspirituality and moral values in economics to evolve a selfless society. Dean, academic affairs, Dr S.S. Tiwana, emphasised on value-laden model of economics for India. Dr Tenjinder Kaur, HoD welcomed the guestspeakers.

ਪਟਿਆਲਾ, ੧੨ ਨਵੰਬਰ- ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਡਿਸਟੈਂਸ ਐਜੂਕੇਸ਼ਨ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵਲੋਂ ' ਵਿਸ਼ੇ 'ਤੇ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀਦੇ ਸੈਨਟ ਹਾਲ ਵਿਖੇ ਦੋ  ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ।ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨਗੀਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਉਪ ਕੁਲਪਤੀ ਡਾ. ਜਸਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਅਤੇ ਚੀਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਮਸ਼ਹੂਰਰਵਾਈਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦਰੋਹਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਦੋਵਾਂ ਦੇਸ਼ਾ ਦੇ ਬਣਦੇ ਵਿਗੜਦੇ ਰਿਸ਼ਤਿਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ।ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੋਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਅੰਤਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਪੱਧਰ 'ਤੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਡਿਪਲੋਮੈਟਿਕ ਰਿਸ਼ਤਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਡੇ ਸੁਧਾਰ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਵਧੀਆਨਤੀਜੇ ਹਾਸਿਲ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਣ।ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅੱਜ ਜਮਾਨਾ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਡਿਪਲੋਮੈਸੀ ਦਾਹੈ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਅੰਤਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਪੱਧਰ ਤੇ ਵੱਧ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਡਿਪਲੋਮੈਸੀ ਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦਿੱਤਾਜਾਵੇ ਰਾਜਨੀਤਕ ਗੱਲ ਘੱਟ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਜਾਣੀਆਂ ਚਾਹੀਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅੰਤਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਪੱਧਰ 'ਤੇ ਡਿਪਲੋਮੈਟਿਕ ਸਬੰਧਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਮਜਬੂਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਭਾਰਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਸਬੰਧਹੋਰ ਗੂੜੇ ਕਰਨੇ ਚਾਹੀਦੇ ਹਨ । ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਗੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖੀ ਡਾ. ਸੁਖਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੋਹਲ ਨੇ 'ਚਾਈਨਜ਼ ਰੈਵੂਲੇਸ਼ਨ ਆਫ੧੯੪੯' ਬਾਰੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਦਿੱਤਾ।ਡਾ. ਸੋਹਲ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਚੀਨ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਰੋਹ ਦੇ ੧੯੧੯ ਤੋਂ ੧੯੪੯ ਤੱਕ
ਵੱਖ ਵੱਖ ਪਹਿਲੂਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਵਿਸਥਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਸਾਂਝੀਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਭਾਰਤ ਅਤੇ ਚੀਨ ਦੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਮਾਨਤਾਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਵੀ ਜਿਕਰ ਕੀਤਾ।ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂਚੈਂਗ ਕਾਈ ਸ਼ੇਕ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਰਾਜ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਮਾਓ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਟਰੀ ਰਾਜ ਤੋਕ ਦੇ ਹਰ ਪਹਿਲੂਨੂੰ ਬੜੇ ਹੀ ਸੁਚੱਜੇ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਦੂਜੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਰਾਨੀਦਰਗਾਵਤੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਜਬਲਪੁਰ ਦੇ ਡਾ. ਏ.ਡੀ.ਐਨ ਬਾਜਪਾਈ ਨੇ ਇੰਡੀਅਨਆਈਜੇਸ਼ਨ ਆਫਇਕਨਾਮਿਕਸ' ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਪੇਸ਼
ਕੀਤਾ।ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਆਰਥਕਿਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਅਧਿਆਤਮਕਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਚੰਗੀਆਂ ਕਦਰਾਂ ਕੀਮਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂਜੋ ਨਿਸ਼ਕਾਮ ਸਮਾਜ ਦੀ ਸਿਰਜਣਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅਧੁਨਿਕ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਵਿਚਸਮਾਨਤਾ ਵਾਲੀ ਅਰਥਵਿਵਸਥਾ ਸਥਾਪਿਤ ਕਰਨਾ ਬੜਾ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਿਲ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਲਈਆਰਥਿਕਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੀਆਂ ਕਦਰਾਂ ਕੀਮਤਾਂ ਅਧਾਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਇਸਮੌਕੇ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਡੀਨ ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਡਾ. ਐਸ.ਐਸ. ਟਿਵਾਣਾ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਆਪਣੇਵਿਚਾਰ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤੇ। ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੀ ਮੁਖੀ ਡਾ. ਤੇਜਿੰਦਰ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਆਏ ਹੋਏ ਮਹਿਮਾਨਾਂ ਦਾਸਾਆਗਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਡੀਨ ਸਮਾਜ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਡਾ. ਬੀਰਇੰਦਰਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਧੰਨਵਾਦਕੀਤਾ।

ਕੀਤਾਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਕੈਂਪ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਉੱਦਮ ਨਾਲ ਪੰਜਾਬਵਿੱਚ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਵਾਰ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਕੈਂਪ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੀਹੱਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੱਗਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਕੈਂਪ ਦਾ ਉਦਘਾਟਨ ਡਾ. ਜਸਪਾਲ
ਸਿੰਘ,ਵਾਈਸ_ਚਾਂਸਲਰ, ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਕੈਂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੇ±ਦੇ ਅੱਠ ਰਾਜਾਂ (ਪੰਜਾਬ, ਹਰਿਆਣਾ, ਹਿਮਾਚਲ ਪ੍ਰਦੇ±, ਉੱਤਰ ਪ੍ਰਦੇ±, ਜੰਮੂ ਕ±ਮੀਰ,ਯੂ.ਟੀ. ਚੰਡੀਗੜ੍ਹ, ਉਤਰਾਖੰਡ ਅਤੇ ਦਿੱਲੀ) ਤੋਂ 100 ਲੜਕੇ, 100 ਲੜਕੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ 10ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਅਫaਸਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਭਾਗ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੀ.ਆਰ.ਡੀ. ਕੈਂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਿਪਬਲਿਕ ਡੇਅਪ੍ਰੇਡ ਕੈਂਪ (ਗਣਤੰਤਰ ਦਿਵਸ ਪਰੇਡ) ਲਈ ਚੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਐਨ.ਐਸ.ਐਸ. ਦੇ ਬੇਹਤਰਪਾਸਾਰ ਲਈ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਰਤ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਐਨ.ਐਸ.ਐਸ. ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਲੋੜੀਂਦੀਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਵੀ ਮੁਹੱਈਆ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।
ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ 40ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲਿਆ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ 14 ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਹਨ। ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਐਲ.ਬੀ.ਐਸ. ਆਰੀਆ ਮਹਿਲਾਕਾਲਜ, ਬਰਨਾਲਾ ਤੋਂ ਇੰਦਰਾ ਗਾਂਧੀ ਐਨ.ਐਸ.ਐਸ. ਅਵਾਰਡੀ_2010 ਮਿਸ. ਅਰਚਨਾ,ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਅਫaਸਰ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਵਿ±ੇ± ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਭਾਗ ਲਿਆ। 

ਵਾਤਾਵਰਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਮੱਸਿਆਵਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ

ਪਟਿਆਲਾ, ਨੰਵਬਰ 10- ਡਾ. ਜਸਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ, ਵਾਈਸ ਚਾਂਸਲਰ, ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਨੇ ਇਨਵਾਇਰਨਮੈਂਟਲ ਸਟੱਡੀਂ (ਇੰਟਰ ਡਿਸਪਲੈਨਿਰੀ) ਵਿ±ੇ ਤੇ ਤੇਰਵੇਂ ਰਿਫਰੈ±ਰ ਕੋਰਸ ਦਾ ਉਦਘਾਟਨ ਕੀਤਾ। ਇਸ ਕੋਰਸ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਖ_ਵੱਖ ਕਾਲਜਾਂ ਅਤੇ
ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀਆਂ ਦੇ 42ਅਧਿਆਪਕ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲੈ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਡਾ. ਜਸਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਅਜੋਕੀਆਂ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਨ ਦੀਆਂਸਮੱਸਿਆਵਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਚਾਨਣਾ ਪਾਇਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਦਾਪ੍ਰਦੂ±ਣ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਸਿਹਤ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਸਮੱਸਿਆਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਬਣ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂਇਲਾਵਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਲੋਂ ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਖਜਾਨਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਬੇਰੋਕ ਟੋਕ ਉਜਾੜਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।ਮਨੁੱਖ, ਜੀਵ ਅਤੇ ਬਨਸਪਤੀ ਇਸ ਗੰਧਲੇ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਦਾ ਖਮਿਆਾਂ ਭੁਗਤ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਲੋੜ ਹੈਕਿ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਦੂ±ਿਤ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਇਆ ਜਾਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਜਿੰਨਾਂ ਸੰਭਵ ਹੋ ਸਕੇਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਖਜਾਨਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਘੱਟ ਤੋਂ ਘੱਟ ਇਸਤੇਮਾਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ। ਵਿਕਾਸ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਦੂ±ਣਇਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੇ ਹੋਣ ਕਾਰਨ ਇਹ ਸਮੱਸਿਆ ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
     ਡਾ. ਨਰਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਡੋਗਰਾ, ਡਾਇਰੈਕਟਰ, ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕ ਸਟਾਫ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਨੇ ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕ ਸਟਾਫ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੀਆਂ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਇਸਕੋਰਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਗ ਲੈ ਰਹੇ ਅਧਿਆਪਕ ਸਾਹਿਬਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਰਿਫਰੈ±ਰ ਕੋਰਸਦੇ ਕੋਰਸ ਕੋਆਰਡੀਨੇਟਰ ਡਾ. ਐਸ. ਪੀ. ਸਿੰਘ, ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ, ਹਿਊਮਨ ਬਾਇਓਲੋਜੀ, ਡੀਨਲਾਈਫ ਸਾਇੰਸਿਂ ਅਤੇ ਐਡੀ±ਨਲ ਡੀਨ ਰਿਸਰਚ ਨੇ ਆਏ ਹੋਏ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੀ ਆਇਆ ਕਿਹਾਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਕੋਰਸ ਦੀ ਰੂਪ ਰੇਖਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਚਾਨਣਾ ਪਾਇਆ। 

UGC Refresher Course 

Patiala,Nov 10- The 13^th UGC Refresher Course for the in-serviceUniversity and college teachers on “Environmental Studies”, beingconducted by the Punjabi University’s Academic Staff College started onthe University campus here today. While inaugurating the course,Vice-Chancellor, Dr Jaspal stressed upon the need of restoring balancebetween technological advancements and sustainable ecological balance.He expressed his satisfaction over the emergence of global consciousness parallel to global warming, generated by the blind misuse of naturalresources by the human beings.

           Dr S.P. Singh, Dean, Research and Course Coordinator, emphasised upon fighting a determined battle against the perpetrators of violenceagainst nature that was causing immense damage to the humanity. Dr N.K.Dogra, Director of the ASC, informed that Punjabi University has taken a lead by organising 16^th refresher and orientation courses in a span of less than one year. He thanked the VC for extending everysort of help in successfully running the ASC.

National integration camp begins at Pbi varsity

Patiala,Nov 10- A national integration camp, organised by the Government ofIndia's Northern Regional Language Centre (NRLC) and PunjabiUniversity’s SGTB National Integration Chair began here today on theNRLC Campus. Delegates from Karnataka, Rajasthan, Himachal Pardesh andPunjab are participating in the national integration camp.

Whileinaugurating the camp, Registrar of Punjabi University, Dr. Manjit Singh said "Indian nation is known for its uniqueness. We were able to pushout a mighty empire by fighting as a united nation but afterindependence, the energy of our people started getting wasted on thesubversive, disruptive and divisive activities, generated by parochialpassions aroused by petty politicians in the name of religion, region,language and culture".

ChairProfessor Dr. Baltej Singh Mann stressed upon the need for inculcatingsentiments of unity, solidarity and cohesion alongwith a sense ofloyalty to the nation. NRLC Principal R.K. Bhat underlined the unity and integrity of India which was essential for our progress, for givingbetter life to our people, for creating a society which is egalitarianand based on secularism, justice and the dignity of the individuals.

ਪਟਿਆਲਾ, ੧੦ ਨਵੰਬਰ:- ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਨੇ ਉਰਦੂ ਅਤੇ ਹਿੰਦੀ ਲਿਪੀ ਸਰਹੱਦਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਅੱਜ  ਕੌਮਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ 'ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ, ਸਾਹਿਤ ਅਤੇ ਸਭਿਆਚਾਰ ਦੇਤਕਨੀਕੀ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਦਾ ਉØੱਚਤਮ ਕੇਂਦਰ' ਵੱਲੋਂ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤੇ ਸਾਫਟਵੇਅਰ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਜ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਵਾਈਸ-ਚਾਂਸਲਰ ਡਾ. ਜਸਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਰਿਲੀਜ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ।
ਵਾਈਸ-ਚਾਂਸਲਰ ਡਾ. ਜਸਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਖੋਜ ਟੀਮ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ੰਸਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦਾ ਖੋਜ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਮੁੱਖਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਨਿਭਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਨੇ
ਗੁਰਮੁਖੀ, ਸ਼ਾਹਮੁਖੀ, ਉਰਦੂ, ਦੇਵਨਾਗਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਰੋਮਨ ਲਿਪੀਆਂ ਦਰਮਿਆਨ ਲਿਪੀਅੰਤਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਪੰਜਪ੍ਰਮੁੱਖ ਅੰਤਰ-ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੋਜੈਕਟ ਸਫ਼ਲਤਾਪੂਰਵਕ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ।ਡਾ.ਜਸਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਸਾਫਟਵੇਅਰ ਉਰਦੂ ਅਤੇ ਹਿੰਦੀ ਪਾਠਕਾਂ
ਦਰਮਿਆਨਧਾਰਮਿਕ, ਜਾਤੀ, ਸਭਿਆਚਾਰਕ ਅਤੇ ਭੂਗੋਲਿਕ ਵੰਡਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਤਮ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਇਕ ਪੁਲ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਕਰੇਗਾ। ਇਸ ਸਾਫਟਵੇਅਰ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਕ ਲਿਪੀ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਖੀਆਂ ਖ਼ਬਰਾਂ, ਕਹਾਣੀਆਂ, ਕਵਿਤਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਵੰਨਗੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਸਰੀ ਲਿਪੀ ਵਿਚ ਬਦਲ ਕੇ ਪੜ੍ਹਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾਹੈ। ਇਸ ਸਾਫਟਵੇਅਰ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਲਿਪੀ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਿਤ ਹੋਈ ਪੂਰੀ ਦੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਵੈਬਸਾਈਟਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇਕ ਮਾਊਸ ਦੇ ਕਲਿੱਕ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਦੂਸਰੀ ਲਿਪੀ ਵਿਚ ਬਦਲ ਕੇ ਪੜ੍ਹੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ।ਹੁਣ ਹਿੰਦੀ ਦੇ ਪਾਠਕ ਉਰਦੂ ਅਖ਼ਬਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਿੰਦੀ ਵਿਚ ਬਦਲ ਕੇ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹਿੰਦੀ ਅਖ਼ਬਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਰਦੂ ਵਿਚ ਤਬਦੀਲ ਕਰਕੇ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸਾਫਟਵੇਅਰ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਨਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਦੀ ਲਿਪੀ ਵਿਚ ਈ-ਮੇਲ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਦਮਦਾਰ ਸਹੂਲਤ ਵੀ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈਹੈ। ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਹੁਣ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਹਿੰਦੀ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਈ-ਮੇਲ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਉਰਦੂ ਵਿਚਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸੇ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਦੂਸਰੇ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਰਦੂ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਈ-ਮੇਲ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਤੱਕ ਹਿੰਦੀ ਵਿਚ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਸਾਫਟਵੇਅਰ ਂਦਾ ਇਨਫਰਮੇਸ਼ਨਸੁਸਾਇਟੀ ਇਨੋਵੇਸ਼ਨ ਫੰਡਂ ਦੇ ਇਕ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਪ੍ਰੋਜੈਕਟ ਤਹਿਤ ਵਿਕਸਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਵ ਏਸ਼ੀਆ ਦੇ ਇੰਟਰਨੈØੱਟ

  Pativ 10- A meeting of the Punjabi Universityalumni is being held on November 13 in the University’s guest house from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in which more than 500 alumni from India and abroadwill participate. Vice-Chancellor, Dr Jaspal Singh will preside over the meeting. Admission to B.Lib./M.Lib. courses

Patiala,Nov 9- Some seats for B.Lib. and M.Lib. courses being run by the Punjabi University’s Department of Distance Education are lying vacant for thesession 2010-11. According to HoD, Dr Tejinder Kaur, the eligiblecandidates can apply for admission against these seats upto November 15with a late fee of Rs 1,000. Prospectuses for these courses areavailable at the University Enquiry Centre or these can also bedownloaded from the website www.dccpbi.com. Admission will be done on merit basis, she said.

Website of Women’s’ Studies Centre  launched

Patiala, Nov 9- Punjabi University’s Vice-Chancellor, Dr Jaspal Singh launchedthe website of Women’s’ Studies Centre wscpedia.org to support its  in the Syndicate room here today. Dr Manju Verma, Director of the WSC said that the main objective of the website is to support capacitybuilding and promote gender equality in addition to highlighting issuesconcerning women empowerment. It would also help in buildingcomprehensive database and enhance connectivity among various segmentsrelated to women issues. The Vice-Chancellor pleaded for exploringvarious frontiers concerning and highlighting the plight of thedown-and-out and marginalised segments of women. He expressed the hopethat the Centre would come up with innovative and research-orientedideas and prepare guidelines to be implemented by the policy makers. Adocumentary, “Women Stonebreakers: Invisible and Silent”, based on women workers in the unorganised sector was also shown on the occasion.

Examination Schedule

Patiala, 9 November - The semester system examinations of Punjabi
University shall be commencing w.e.f. 30.11.2010 and annual system
under-graduate theory examination for Private and Distance Education
Department's candidates shall be commencing w.e.f. 22.3.2011, for
regular candidates from 30.3.2011 and post-graduate from 19.4.2011.

ਖੁਲ੍ਹਦਿਲੀ ਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆ ਵਰਗੇ ਪਵਿਤਰਖੇਤਰ ਨਾਲ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਲਗਾਓ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਣ ਦਿਤਾ ਹੈ।

Haiku poetry can lead to social transformation:Dr Jaspal Singh

Patiala,Nov 9-Haiku, originally a form of Japanese poetry, describing nature and life in its holistic form came alive in Punjabi University with Punjabi Haiku Forum and Punjabi University’s Department of Punjabi organising the first International Punjabi Haiku Conference theUniversity’s Senate Hall.

In hiskeynote address, John Brandi, Haiku writer from the United States saidthat it was M the Punjabi University’s Senate Hall Matsuo Basho who took Haiku to its new heights in the 17th century. Haiku, he said, closelyrelates poetry to life without any preconceived ideas, notions orjudgment and amounts to sharing of awareness coming from directexperience. Vice-Chancellor, Dr Jaspal Singh, in his presidentialaddress, said Haiku per se can play a vital role in life as it teachesthe art of living in an affirmative manner. It contains a deep proximity to all aspects of life, depicting its social, political and economicconcerns and properly understood, therefore, it can lead to socialtransformation in the society. He thanked the Haiku Forum to have chosen Punjabi University as the venue for its first International PunjabiHaiku Conference. He also released three Haiku books in Punjabi authored by Prof Darbara Singh (pal chhin), John Brandi (neela ambr goonj reha)and Gurmeet Singh Sandu(khivan).

Vice-President of the Sahitya Academy, Dr S.S. Noor traced the history, structure,style and philosophy of Haiku poetry till the present times. He askedthe Punjabi poets to use justifiable restraint while writing Haikus asthe art form moved on a tough terrain and required ample amount ofwisdom and divine qualities. Noted litterateur and Sarasvati awardee,Surjit Pattar too cautioned the “evolving Haiku writers” against making a mockery of this subtle art form.  It describes life in its entirety in one of its purest forms while shrugging off ego and selfish motives. HoD of Punjabi, Prof Rajinderpal Brar, Mr Amarajit Sathi fromCanada, Mr Parminder Sodhi from Japan and Mr Gurmeet Singh Sandhu alsoshared their views on the significance of Haiku poetry.

ਪਟਿਆਲਾ-8 ਨਵੰਬਰ: ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀਦੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵਲੋਂ ਮੁਖੀ ਡਾ. ਰਾਜਿੰਦਰ ਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਰਾੜ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਵਿਚ ਪੰਜਾਬੀਹਾਇਕੂ ਫੋਰਮ ਦੇ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਨਾਲ ਅੰਤਰ-ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਹਾਇਕੂ ਕਾਨਫਰੰਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਸਿਰਮੌਰਸਾਹਿਤਕਾਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਕੌਮਾਤਰੀ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਬਾਰੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਪੱਧਰੀ ਸੰਵਾਦ ਰਚਾਇਆ। ਇਸ ਕਾਨਫਰੰਸ ਦਾਉਦਘਾਟਨ ਮੇਜਬਾਨ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਉਪ-ਕੁਲਪਤੀ ਡਾ.ਜਸਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਕੀਤਾ। ਭਾਰਤੀ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਅਕਾਦਮੀ ਦੇ ਉਪ-ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਡਾ. ਸੁਤਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂਰ ਨੇ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨਗੀ ਕੀਤੀ। ਇਸਮੌਕੇ ਸਰਸਵਤੀ ਪੁਰਸਕਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਸਨਮਾਨਿਤ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸ਼ਾਇਰ ਸੁਰਜੀਤ ਪਾਤਰ ਮੁੱਖ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਵਜੋਂ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਮਿਸਟਰ ਜੌਨ ਬਰੈਂਡੀ (ਅਮਰੀਕਾ) ਨੇ ਸ਼ਮੂਲੀਅਤ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇਤੇ ਬੋਲਦਿਆਂ ਵਾਈਸ ਚਾਂਸਲਰ ਡਾ. ਜਸਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਸਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ, ਸਾਹਿਤ ਤੇ ਸਭਿਆਚਾਰ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿਚ ਨਵੀਂਆਂ ਪੁਲਾਘਾਂਪੁੱਟ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀਅਤ ਦੀ ਹੱਬ ਬਣ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਵਾਈਸ ਚਾਂਸਲਰ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਹਾਇਕੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਕਿਰਤੀ ਚੁੱਪ ਤੋਂ ਅਗਾਂਹਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਸਰੋਕਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਹਾਇਕੂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ੂਬੀ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਕਾਨਫਰੰਸਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਵਾਦ ਰਚਾ ਕੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਕੁਝ ਨਵਾਂਸਿੱਖ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ।
ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਡਾ. ਰਾਜਿੰਦਰ ਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘਬਰਾੜ ਨੇ ਸਵਾਗਤੀ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਬੋਲਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਖੋਜ ਤੇ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾਸਮਾਜ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੇ ਹੋਰ ਮਸਲਿਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਵੀ ਸੰਜੀਦਗੀ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਚਰਚਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਨੇ ਸ਼ੈਸ਼ਨ ਦਾ ਅਰੰਭ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਸ਼ਾ ਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਮਾਧਿਅਮ ਨਾਲ ਆਈ .ਏ.ਐਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਖਿਆ ਪਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਲਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਤੋਂ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਸਭਾ ਵੀ ਸਰਗਰਮ ਹੈ ਜਿਸਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਲੋਕਪੱਖੀਨਾਟਕਕਾਰ ਗੁਰਸ਼ਰਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਸਾਹਿਤਕਾਰ, ਚਿੱਤਰਕਾਰ ਤੇ ਪਰਬਤ ਆਰੋਹੀ ਮਨਮੋਹਨਬਾਵਾ ਨਾਲ ਰੂ-ਬ-ਰੂ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ। ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ ਵੇਲੇ 225 ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਪੜ੍ਹ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਖਸੀਅਤ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਪੱਖੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਫੁਲਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਹਰਹੀਲਾ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਉਦਘਾਟਨੀ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਡਾ. ਸੁਤਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂਰ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਹਾਇਕੂ ਸੰਬਧੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਅੰਤਰ-ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਕਾਨਫਰੰਸ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵਧਾਈ ਦਾ ਪਾਤਰ ਹੈ। ਡਾ. ਨੂਰ ਨੇ  ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਹਾਇਕੂ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਪੂਰਨਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਲਿਖੇ ਸਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਭਰ ਵਿਚ ਹਾਇਕੂ ਕਾਵਿ ਦੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਇਕੱਲੇ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਲਗਭਗ 15 ਵੱਡੇ ਮੈਗਜੀਨ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਿਤ ਹੋਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹਾਇਕੂ ਕਾਵਿ ਦਰਬਾਰੀ ਮਾਹੌਲ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੀ ਕਵਿਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਦਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਿਰਮੌਰ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸ਼ਾਇਰ ਸੁਰਜੀਤ ਪਾਤਰ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸ਼ਲੋਕ ਤੇ ਹਾਇਕੂ ਵਿਚਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਂਝ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਹਾਇਕੂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ-ਬਾਹਰ ਚੁੱਪ ਪਸਰੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਮਿਸਟਰ ਜੌਨ ਬਰੈਂਡੀ ਨੇ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਭਰ ਦੇ ਚੋਣਵੇਂ ਹਾਇਕੂ ਕਾਵਿ ਬਾਰੇਚਰਚਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਹਾਇਕੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਲ ਭਰ ਚ ਹੋਏ ਅਚੰਭਿਤ ਅਹਿਸਾਸ ਦੀ ਪੇਸ਼ਕਾਰੀ ਕਿਹਾ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਹਾਇਕੂ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਿਹ  ਨੀਲਾ ਅੰਬਰ ਗੂੰਜ ਰਿਹਾ ( ਜੌਨ ਬਰੈਂਡੀ ), ਪਲ-ਛਿਣ (ਦਰਬਾਰਾਸਿੰਘ), ਖਿਵਣ ( ਗੁਰਮੀਤ ਸੰਧੂ ) ਵੀ ਲੋਕ ਅਰਪਣ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ। ਇਸ ਸ਼ੈਸ਼ਨ ਦਾ ਮੰਚ ਸੰਚਾਲਨਕਾਨਫਰੰਸ ਦੇ ਕਨਵੀਨਰ ਡਾ. ਜਸਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੈਣੀ ਨੇ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਦੂਜਾ ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕ ਸ਼ੈਸ਼ਨਵਿਚਾਰ-ਚਰਚਾ ਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ। ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਚੇਅਰ-ਪਰਸਨ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਮਰਜੀਤ ਗਰੇਵਾਲ ਤੇ ਡਾ. ਗੁਰਮੁਖਸਿੰਘ (ਕੋ-ਚੇਅਰ) ਸਨ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਡਾ. ਰਾਜਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਹਾਇਕੂ ਕਾਵਿ-ਰੂਪ ਸਬੰਧੀਆਪਣਾ ਪੇਪਰ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ। ਵਿਚਾਰ-ਚਰਚਾ ਲਈ ਪੈਨਲ ਵਿਚ ਡਾ.ਜਸਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ, ਡਾ. ਸਤੀਸ਼ਕੁਮਾਰ ਵਰਮਾ, ਡਾ. ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਚੀਮਾ, ਆਦਿ ਨੇ ਭਾਗ ਲਿਆ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਅਵਨਿੰਦਰਮਾਂਗਟ, ਹਰਵਿੰਦਰ ਤਤਲਾ, ਦੰਿਦਰ ਪਾਠਕ, ਰਾਜਬੀਰ ਕਾਹਲੋਂ, ਤੇਜਿੰਦਰ ਸੋਹੀ, ਰੋਜ਼ੀ ਮਾਨ,ਸੁਰਿੰਦਰ ਸਾਥੀ, ਸਵਰਨ ਸਿੰਘ, ਅਰਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੌਰ,  ਅਮਰਜੀਤ ਸਾਥੀ, ਗੁਰਮੀਤ ਸੰਧੂ ਆਦਿਕਵੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਾਇਕੂ ਸੁਣਾਏ। ਜਿਸਦਾ ਮੰਚ ਸੰਚਾਲਨ ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨੇ ਕੀਤਾ। ਕਾਨਫਰੰਸਦੌਰਾਨ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਪਰਮਜੀਤ ਕੱਟੂ ਤੇ ਹਰਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਹਾਇਕੂ ਅਤੇਹਾਇਗਾ (ਹਾਇਕੂ-ਚਿੱਤਰ) ਦਾ ਸਲਾਈਡ ਸ਼ੋਅ ਵੀ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਲਗਭਗ 250ਖੋਜਾਰਥੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਦਵਾਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਸ਼ਮੂਲੀਅਤ ਕੀਤੀ।

ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਚੇਤਨਾ ਰੈਲੀ 

ਸਰੀਰਕ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਤੇ ਯੋਗ ਕੇਂਦਰ, ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਵਲੋ
ਦੀਵਾਲੀ ਦੇ ਸੱੁਭ ਅਵਸਰ ਤੇ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਚੇਤਨਾ ਰੈਲੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਕੈਂਪਸ ਵਿਖੇ ਕੀਤੀ
ਗਈ।ਇਸ ਰੈਲੀ ਦਾ ਉਦਘਾਟਨ ਪ੍ਰਫੈਸਰ ਕੁਲਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਢਿੱਲੌ, ਡੀਨ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਭਲਾਈ
ਦੁਆਰਾਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਉਦਘਾਟਨੀ ਭਾਸaਣ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆ ਨੂੰ
ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਕਰਦੇਹੋਏ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਭਾਰਤ ਬਹੁ-ਧਰਮੀ, ਬਹੁ-ਕੌਮੀ ਦੇਸa ਹੈ। ਭਾਰਤ ਦੀ
ਖੂਬਸੂਰਤੀ ਏਕਤਾਵਿੱਚ ਅਨੇਕਤਾ ਹੈ। ਇਥੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਧਰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ
ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਵੇ,ਰੀਤੀ-ਰਿਵਾਜ ਅਤੇ ਉਤਸਵ ਮਨਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਹੈ। ਉਨਾਂ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ
ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਬਾਰਕਬਾਦ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਦੀਵਾਲੀ ਨੇਕੀ ਦੀ ਬਦੀ ਉਤੇ
ਜਿੱਤ ਦਾਪ੍ਰਤੀਕ ਹੈ। ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਰਲ- ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮਨਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।ਇਸ ਮੋਕੇ
ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਸੁਚੇਤ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਡੀਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ
ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਕਰਦੇਹੋਏ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਦੀਵਾਲੀ ਦੇ ਦਿਹਾੜੇ ਤੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਦੂਸaਣ
ਤੋ ਬਚਾਉਣਲਈ ਹਰ ਸੰਭਵ ਉਪਰਾਲਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਬੱਚਿਆਂ, ਬੁਜਰਗਾਂ ਤੇ ਬਿਮਾਰ
ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀਸਿਹਤ ਨੂੰ ਧਿਆਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖਦਿਆਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਅਤੇ ਅਵਾਂa ਪ੍ਰਦੂਸaਣ
ਵਾਲੇਬੰਬ-ਪਟਾਕਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਸਾਂਝੇ ਕਰਦਿਆਂਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਯੋਗ ਇਕ ਫਿਲਾਸaਫੀ ਹੈ। ਯੋਗ
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਕ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜਨ ਦਾ ਕੰਮਵੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਧਿਆਨ ਰੱਖਣਾ

ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਵਾਪਸ ਪਰਤੇਗੀ। ਇਸ ਰੈਲੀ ਵਿੱਚਲਗਭਗ 250 ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਭਾਗ

ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਫੈਸ਼ਨਲ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਫਕੈਲਟੀ ਦੀ ਦੇਖ ਰੇਖ ਹੇਠ ਸਨੈਕਸ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰਕੇ
ਸਰਵ ਕੀਤੇਗਏ।ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਤੋਰ ਤੇ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ

ਗਰੀਟਿੰਗ ਕਾਰਡ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਜੋਸਮਾਨ ਵੇਚਣ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।ਇਸ

Dr Jagtar invited at UNESCO meeting

Patiala, Nov 3- Dr Jagtar Singh, Professor and Head of the Department of Library and Information Science and President, Indian Association of Teachersof Library and Information Science (IATLIS) has been invited by theUNESCO Expert Group Meeting on Media and Information Literacy to be held at Bangkok (Thailand) from November 4 to 6, 2010. Dr Jagtar will beworking with around 25 experts from different countries of the world toreview and validate the conceptual framework, research methodology andthe media and information literacy indicators to inform the policymakers and educators to promote media and information literacy acrossfrontiers.

WSC holds exhibition

Patiala, Nov 3- Punjabi University’s Women Studies Centre, in collaboration with the department of Social Work, organised a two-day exhibition-cum-sale on theUniversity campus to boost the skills and abilities of differently-abled students. The director of the Centre, Dr Manju Verma inaugurated theexhibition where candles, greeting cards and other articles made bythese students were displayed.

            Earlier, the Centre organised a workshop on “Women’s Human Rights’ on Tuesdayfor the students of PG Diploma in Women and Child Development. ProfSherry Sabbarwal from Panjab University’s Department of Sociology dwelton article 30 in the Universal Declaration of Human rights. Stating that all rights enjoy the same status, she said that these can’t be put inany hierarchical position in everyday life.

Pbi varsity's Hotel Management dept gets Rs twocrore grant

Patiala, Nov 3- The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, has extendedfinancial grant to the tune of Rs two crore to the Punjabi University’sDepartment of Tourism, Hospitality and Hotel Management for developingits infrastructure and creating other facilities. Giving thisinformation, Director of the Department, Dr S.M. Verma said that theDepartment organised a programme, “Yes Chef” where the students prepared and served sumptuous snacks in a professional manner. The outlet, hesaid, was managed entirely by the students themselves under the guidance and supervision of the faculty. The department offered a cake, baked by the students, to the Vice-Chancellor to mark Diwali celebrations in his office today.

ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਅਤੇ ਫਕੈਲਟੀ ਅਦਾਨਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਦੇ ਛੋਟ ਸਮੇ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰਨ ਬਾਰੇ ਵੀ ਸਹਿਮਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨਵਿਰਸਿਟ ਿਦੇ ਡੀਨ ਰਿਸੋਰਸ ਮੋਬਲੀਜੇਸ਼ਨ ਡਾ. ਏ.ਐਸ.ਚਾਵਲਾ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਦੋਵਾਂਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀਆਂ ਨੇ ੨੦੦੯ ਤੋਂ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੇ ਐਮ.ਬੀ.ਏ ਵਨ ਪਲੱਸ ਵਨ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗੇ ਵੀ ਜਾਰੀ ਰੱਖਣ ਲਈ ਸਹਿਮਤੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ।ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ੩+੧ ਬੀ.ਬੀ.ਏ
ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਸਾਲਾ ਬੀ.ਈ ਇੰਨਟੈਗਰੇਟਡ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਚਲਾਉਣ ਬਾਰੇ ਵੀ ਸਮਭਾਵਨਾਂਵਾਂ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀਆਂਹਨ।ਦੋਵਾਂ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਬੀ.ਈ/ਐਮ.ਬੀ.ਏ. ਦੇ ਕਰੀਕੁਲਮ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਨ ਕੀਤਾਹੈ।ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਰੌਗਰਾਮਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਕੋਈ ਤਬਦੀਲੀ ਅਤੇ ਅਦਾਨ ਪਰਦਾਨ ਲਈ
